Atomic Kitten are reportedly planning a reunion, but founding member Kerry Katona has been left out of the discussions, according to insiders. Natasha Hamilton, Liz McClarnon and Jenny Frost are said to be in talks to revive the group as a trio, leaving the 45-year-old singer furious.
An insider told heat magazine: 'Kerry is fuming after hearing that talks are happening without her, especially after taking part in the previous reunion.' The source added that the three women are 'keeping discussions quiet and controlled' and that 'the energy between those three is strong'.
Kerry and Natasha, 43, have had a famously rocky relationship since the band formed in 1998. Kerry was replaced by Jenny, 47, in 2001 when she became pregnant with her first child, but rejoined for ITV's The Big Reunion in 2012. Jenny reportedly said she would 'rather eat her own kidney with a spoon' than work with Kerry. In 2017, Kerry left the band again after branding Natasha 'a toxic c***'.
The decision to exclude Kerry is said to be about image. 'Natasha wants this next era of Atomic Kitten to feel elevated, stylish – almost boutique,' the insider explained. 'In her eyes, Jenny brings a level of class and credibility that fits that vision.' Natasha has been reflecting on the band's early years following a BBC documentary and said in December she would 'never say never' to a reunion.
A representative for Kerry told heat: 'Kerry wishes them nothing but love and success for the reunion. She supports the girls immensely and is a massive fan of Atomic Kitten's music after she left the band.'
