Kerry Katona has been fined £240 after her teenage daughters missed school to go on holiday in Barbados. The Atomic Kitten singer allowed Molly, 15, and Lilly, 14, to skip classes at Uplands Community College in Wadhurst, East Sussex, to travel with their father, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, in February.
The 36-year-old reality TV star was scheduled to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, but the hearing was delayed after her solicitors informed the council she intended to pay the penalty. East Sussex County Council confirmed they had not yet received the payment.
In an Instagram post, Katona clarified that the holiday was not her decision, writing: 'Their dad took them away to Barbados. The matter has all been sorted.' Under current rules, parents are banned from taking children on term-time holidays except in 'exceptional circumstances'.
Katona, originally from Warrington, Cheshire, now lives in Crowborough, East Sussex. She is currently divorcing her third husband, former rugby player George Kay.
