Milos Kerkez has stated that Mohamed Salah's exit signals the dawn of a new era at Liverpool. The left-back also emphasized that his relationship with Kostas Tsimikas remains positive, with both competing for a starting spot under Andoni Iraola.
Kerkez Reflects on Salah's Impact
Kerkez grew close to Salah during their single season together and has stayed in contact with the Egyptian after his departure. Speaking in Chicago, Kerkez highlighted Salah's influence but admitted uncertainty about where the free agent will go next.
"As for Mo, I saw on the TV before we left the AXA [Training Centre], how many goals and assists Mo had, it was 300 and something. I just walked out! What is this?!" Kerkez said. "But time flies, a new generation comes with new players and hopefully everything will be good. Yeah we speak often [with Salah] but I don't know who he is signing for! We just talk about vacations."
Dynamic with Tsimikas and Szoboszlai
Despite competition for the left-back position, Kerkez insists there is no animosity with Tsimikas, who returned after a loan spell at Roma. "Kostas and I get on well. Last pre-season we also connected really good. It was me, Dom [Szoboszlai], Kostas and Mo. There is no bad blood. Kostas is Greek, I'm Serbian, we have that kind of similar mentality," Kerkez explained.
Kerkez also spent his summer break in Serbia, Spain, and Montenegro before returning home, and he remains close with compatriot Dominik Szoboszlai. On Szoboszlai's new contract, Kerkez said: "It was very important. Last year you could see how important he was with everything. He is getting even better in that role of a leader and he is very important for us. Everyone is really happy that he is continuing for longer."
