Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz fought back tears as their young daughter Marnie won a first-place rosette at the prestigious Royal Cheshire Show. The emotional moment was captured in a repeat episode of the family's ITV series, Fletcher's Family Farm, which follows their transition from acting to farming life in the Peak District.
Marnie's Triumph in the Show Ring
Marnie entered the ring with the family's cow, Sonic, whom they had owned for only four weeks, alongside her father and their other cow, Cherry. Kelvin watched with a mix of nerves and admiration, saying, "Marnie is doing so well handling Sonic, especially as he seems to be a little bit overwhelmed by the buzz of the crowd."
Liz, watching from ringside with their son Milo, became emotional. She said, "Can you believe your sister's out there with the cow? Are you proud of her?" Turning to the camera, her voice cracking, she added, "If we go home with a rosette or not, the fact that we have managed this... I have literally got tears in my eyes. It makes me so emotional because there's so much to do, and it's scary. It's nerve-wracking, and to just stand there among all these other people that have been doing it for years — it might even be their first show too. It's just an amazing tradition, and I'm so proud. I'm so proud of Kelvin. I'm so proud of Marnie."
A Rosette and a Rollercoaster of Emotions
When Marnie was awarded first place, the family erupted in joy. Liz declared, "Marnie just got a rosette. Honestly, I am too emotional. It's been an absolute rollercoaster, but she did it, and she's going on with a little rosette."
Kelvin, who previously won Strictly Come Dancing with Oti Mabuse, admitted this moment rivaled any of his past achievements. "Oh, I can't explain the emotions I'm feeling. I felt just immense," he said. "I was really nervous when I first went out. More nervous for Marnie. And Marnie said to me that she was scared, and that broke my heart. And I just said, 'Come on, push through it, embrace the fear,' and she did so well."
As the family embraced, Kelvin tearfully told his daughter, "I was so proud. I was gonna cry. What a moment for us."
Fletcher's Family Farm is available to watch on ITVX.
