Kelsey Parker, the widow of The Wanted singer Tom Parker, has unveiled a touching memorial plaque in his honour. She mounted the plaque on a family bench originally placed in woodland as a tribute to her late Uncle Neil, who also died of cancer 16 years ago at the age of 35.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Kelsey shared a video of herself sitting on the bench with Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' playing. The new plaque reads: 'Thomas Anthony Parker - Loving Husband, Son & Father Forever In Our Hearts 04.08.88 - 30.03.22'.
Alongside the post, she wrote: 'One thing that did go well today is that we finally got Tom's plaque on our family bench. We created this place for my Uncle Neil... making this Tom's space too just felt so right. To have somewhere that me and our kids can come to for Tom means the world.'
Tom died aged 33 on 30 March after a brave battle with stage four glioblastoma brain cancer, diagnosed in October 2020. Kelsey, mother to their children Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, 20 months, has since worked to raise awareness of the illness.
Earlier this week, Kelsey marked Aurelia's third birthday with a Disney-themed party. She reflected on the milestones in an emotional social media post, saying: '3 years with our amazing Rae... 3 months without Tom has felt like a lifetime.' The party featured Disney princesses and was attended by former EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton.
