Kelly Osbourne has said she misses her dad Ozzy with "every part of her soul." A year ago today, the world was left stunned after it was announced that the Black Sabbath legend had died aged 76, at home in Jordans. His death came just weeks after the Prince of Darkness reunited with his bandmates for his final concert, Back to the Beginning, at his beloved Villa Park – not far from where he grew up. His cause of death was ruled as an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction (joint causes).
Kelly's heartfelt tribute
Now, as the Osbourne family mark the first anniversary of his death, his daughter Kelly has taken to social media to share a heartbreaking tribute. In view of her 4.3million followers, the singer and TV star said: "One year ago today, the world changed forever. Today, I sit here beside you in a way I never thought would be possible. I know you are still with me. I feel you in the quiet, in the wind, in every song that stops me in my tracks, is the smell of your cologne and in every moment that love outweighs grief. You are all around me."
Kelly went on to say that living without her legendary father has been the "hardest thing" she's ever experienced, adding: "Now all I have are memories. But my God, what beautiful memories they are. Even through all the madness we lived through, you somehow made every moment worthwhile." Kelly went on to say that she has "never loved anyone or anything," as "deeply unique" as her Paranoid hitmaker father. "And now I carry all of that love with nowhere to place it except within me, my son, and mumma," she said, adding: "It aches every single day, but it is also the greatest privilege of my life. To have loved someone so completely."
Seeing Ozzy in her son
But she admits being comforted each day, seeing "glimpses" of Ozzy in her son, Sidney, explaining her little man has Ozzy's smile, spirit and mannerisms. "Sometimes it stops me in my tracks because it feels as though you’ve found a way to remind me that love never truly leaves us," Kelly said, before saying: "Seeing you reflected in him is one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given."
Reflecting on Ozzy's mark across the world and his influence on the music industry, the former Fashion Police presenter commented: "You changed lives simply by being yourself and the beautiful timeless music you created." Despite Ozzy becoming one of the biggest musicians of all time, with millions of fans across the globe, Kelly praised her father for never forgetting his working-class roots in the West Midlands. She said: "You made people believe that life could be better because of the way you lived yours. With honesty, loyalty, courage, humour, and a heart bigger than anyone realised. There will never be another you. You carried something extraordinary inside you, a kind of magic that felt heaven-sent, and I will spend the rest of my life feeling grateful that I got to call you my daddy."
Family tributes
"This past year has broken me in ways I never knew were possible." She added: "Music may live forever, but what our family created our bond, our laughter, our unwavering love is eternal. Death could never take that from us." She went on to say how much she loved and missed the musician, while thanking him for "being my daddy" and "making me who I am". Kelly's mother, Sharon, also honoured Ozzy and urged fans to "remember how funny he was – funny and charismatic and real". She told BBC Radio West Midlands: "He was authentic. He never tried to be anything other than what he was, and he would tell you the truth about everything and that was him, you knew where you were with him."
