Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has purchased a new home in Butte, Montana, for an undisclosed sum. The property, listed at $1.8 million, was acquired on 18 April, according to reports. The 45-year-old music manager is also renaming his cattle ranching business from Vintage Valley Ranch to V Bar V Cattle Co., amid speculation he plans to leave the entertainment industry and become a full-time rancher.
The purchase comes after a lengthy and contentious divorce between Clarkson and Blackstock, which was finalised in March. Clarkson initially filed for divorce in June 2020, and the proceedings were marked by disputes over custody of their two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, as well as child support and property rights.
A key point of contention was Clarkson's Montana ranch, which she owned solely. When she planned to sell it, Blackstock objected, claiming he needed the property for his ranching business. In August 2021, a judge ruled that if he worked the ranch for profit, he would have to cover maintenance costs—estimated at about $81,000 per month.
In December, Clarkson lost a bid to evict him, but a Los Angeles judge later gave Blackstock until 1 June to vacate the ranch. The divorce settlement requires Clarkson to pay $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024 and $45,601 per month in child support, despite having primary custody of the children.
