Kelly Brook reveals what really went wrong with Jason Statham
Kelly Brook on what went wrong with Jason Statham

Kelly Brook has spoken openly on Loose Women about her past relationship with actor Jason Statham, suggesting that his rise to fame changed him and led to their split. The couple dated for seven years and were engaged before ending things in 2004.

During the ITV show on Thursday, October 29, the panel discussed whether they preferred softer, emotionally available men like Harry Styles or traditional 'tough guys' like Statham. Asked first because of her history with the actor, Brook admitted she now favours more sensitive men, saying: "I think there was a time when I probably went more for the butch alpha."

Reflecting on Statham's Transformation

When Kaye Adams asked if Statham had a soft side, Brook replied: "I mean, I don't know him now! I don't know what he's like now. I do remember, when I met him, he'd just started acting, so I do remember thinking he was a very sporty guy, but there was this softer side."

She continued: "But, then I think as the success started coming in, definitely the more macho alpha, wanting the posh house and the car and the supermodel girlfriend, it all became a bit cliche for me. I was a bit like, 'Oh, you're into that, I didn't realise. I thought you were more into the arts'."

When Adams suggested Statham felt pressure to live up to the roles he was playing, Brook responded: "Maybe he became his character, and that's where it went wrong. Maybe that's what happened, but in the beginning, I thought there was a bit more of a softer edge."

Her Marriage to Jeremy Parisi

Brook also discussed her husband Jeremy Parisi, whom she married in 2022 after meeting in 2015. She told the panel: "I do think my husband has a combination of both, though."

She added: "He is a Judo fighter by trade, but he also doesn't mind putting the wash on, cooking dinner, or taking the dog out. He's definitely romantic, he's got a bit of a combination of all of it. I think if it's a bit one-dimensional, alpha male, it doesn't interest me."

Brook has previously spoken about her marriage, describing how co-dependent she is and the time they make sure to spend together. Asked what would happen if she had to go away for work in the past, she said: "He would either come with me or I just wouldn't go. I would check in with him if I have a job – even coming on Loose today, I was like, 'Am I available?' My marriage is number one. It is the priority for me, and I'm very strict about it."
