Keith Urban left fans in hysterics during the final stop of his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville on Friday, October 17, after a humorous interaction with an audience member. In footage shared by media agency Nashville Experience, the country singer asked a fan in the front row for her name. When she replied off-mic, Urban responded: 'What? I’m not going to like your name? What?' The fan then clarified: 'It’s Nicole.'
The name Nicole is that of his estranged wife, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, with whom he is currently divorcing. Despite the awkward moment, Urban showed his sense of humour by collapsing to the floor in laughter alongside the crowd.
The concert came one day after Urban was forced to cancel his October 16 show in Greenville, South Carolina, due to laryngitis. In a statement, he apologised to fans, saying: 'Hey Greenville, I’m so SO sorry to have to cancel the show …. I know all the logistics it takes to get to a concert these days and I’ve never taken any of that, or any of YOU for granted.'
The moment follows news of the couple's separation. Kidman filed for divorce on September 30 in Nashville, citing irreconcilable differences. The pair reportedly struggled with conflicting work commitments, including Urban's world tour and Kidman's projects such as Practical Magic 2 and the new season of Big Little Lies. They share two teenage daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
