Katy Perry in talks for tell-all book and docuseries on Brand marriage
Katy Perry in talks for tell-all book and docuseries

Katy Perry is reportedly in talks to secure a deal to reveal secrets from her marriage to Russell Brand in a tell-all book and documentary series, following the conclusion of his trial. Brand, a convicted rapist, is expected to face a substantial prison sentence on Monday after being convicted of raping a fan and sexually assaulting three women on Thursday.

Deal discussions after trial

Sources close to the pop superstar told the Mail on Sunday that she had been holding off until Brand's trial concluded before signing any deals. However, the singer has allegedly been in 'active discussions' to share her perspective on their marriage, which ended in 2011.

An insider revealed: "Katy has received multiple offers over the years to tell her story but would not consider anything until after the trial. She has a lot to say."

"At the moment she's considering a Netflix-type series and an autobiography. She and her team have been in active discussions. There is a lot about that marriage which people don't know. It was a very dark period in her life."

Perry's public comments and BBC apology

Reports suggest that her team have been in touch with streaming giants including Netflix and Hulu. Perry, speaking to fans in July this year, said she believed her ex 'should be in jail.' On the first night of the popstar's Out of Office UK tour, Perry, 41, told fans at the venue - which has a capacity of 10,000 - "I hope my ex isn't here, he should be in jail."

While he awaits sentencing, prisoners are said to have been banned from speaking to Brand. The BBC stated "there can be no place for the abuse of power" as it repeated its public apology in the wake of Brand's conviction.

A spokesperson commented: "Firstly, the thoughts of everyone at the BBC are with the brave women who came forward and told their stories which led to a conviction in this case. There can be no place for the abuse of power."

"Across the industry, we must work together to ensure that anyone who suffers at someone else's hand feels able to report it, that their concerns are taken seriously and that they are listened to. We published a detailed report in January 2025 into how complaints about Russell Brand's conduct were handled."

"This looked at eight allegations of misconduct while he worked here between 2006 and 2008. It was of great concern to us that some people felt unable to raise concerns about Brand's behaviour. We apologised to those impacted, for both the culture and failings at the time, and we reiterate that apology again today."

Prime Minister's response

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said of Brand: "His crimes are horrific. He's rightly been held to account, justice for the victims and that is the right course that's been taken here."

"It's not always the case that people know everything about people in public life, but what is important is that where there is wrongdoing, it is exposed. And as I say again, credit to the victims, huge credit, the courage that it's taken, but also the journalists who have exposed this."
