Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have confirmed their relationship on Instagram, with the singer posting a photo of the pair smiling cheek to cheek and a video of them eating sushi together while in Japan. The posts, shared on Saturday to Perry's account, which has 202 million followers, included a carousel of images and videos captioned 'tokyo times on tour and more', accompanied by emojis including a red heart.
The confirmation follows months of speculation about a romance between the pop star and the former Canadian prime minister. Their first public appearance together was in October, when they were photographed holding hands after attending a cabaret show in Paris for Perry's 41st birthday. In July, they were spotted on a dinner date in Montreal, and Trudeau was later seen singing Perry's hit 'Firework' at her concert.
Trudeau, who served as Canadian prime minister from 2015 to 2025, reshared a photo on X on Thursday of the pair posing with Japan's former prime minister, Fumio Kishida, and his wife, Yuko. He wrote: 'Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.'
The 'hard launch' of their relationship has drawn a range of reactions online, with one fan commenting on Instagram: 'OH CANADA!!! MAKING IT OFFICIAL!!!' Another wrote: 'Your happiness is our happiness. All the love to you! 🥹❤️' Neither Perry nor Trudeau has publicly commented on their relationship beyond the posts.
