Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have confirmed their relationship on Instagram, after the singer posted a photo of the pair smiling cheek to cheek and a video of them eating sushi together while in Japan.
Perry's post appeared to end months of speculation about a possible romance between her and the former Canadian prime minister. The selfie was part of a carousel of photos and videos from a trip to Tokyo, posted on Saturday to the singer's account, which has 202 million followers.
Perry captioned the series 'tokyo times on tour and more', followed by a smiling face and several emojis, including flowers and a red heart. The post comes after Trudeau reshared a photo on X of the pair posing with Japan's former prime minister, Fumio Kishida, and his wife, Yuko, writing: 'Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.'
The 'hard launch' of their relationship has been met with a range of comments online, with one fan writing: 'OH CANADA!!! MAKING IT OFFICIAL!!!' and another: 'Your happiness is our happiness.' Neither Perry nor Trudeau have publicly commented on their relationship, but the Instagram confirmation followed public sightings. In July, they were spotted on a dinner date in Montreal, and Trudeau was seen singing along to Perry's song 'Firework' at her concert two days later. They made their first public appearance together in October, holding hands after a cabaret show in Paris for Perry's 41st birthday.
Trudeau served as Canadian prime minister from 2015 to 2025 before announcing his resignation earlier this year. Perry is a 13-time Grammy nominee with seven studio albums and hits including 'California Gurls', 'Hot n Cold' and 'Roar'.
