Katie Waissel Hospitalised with Severe Bacterial Pneumonia
Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel has been rushed to hospital after being diagnosed with severe bacterial pneumonia. The 40-year-old singer was admitted as an emergency to St John and St Elizabeth Hospital in Central London after experiencing excruciating pain.
In a statement to fans, Waissel revealed: 'It turns out I have severe bacterial pneumonia, so I've been rather unexpectedly residing in a hospital bed in Central London ever since.' She described the ordeal as one of 'the most frightening and excruciatingly painful' experiences she had ever endured, adding: 'At one point, I was apparently far closer to the edge than I realised.'

Waissel praised the hospital's 'extraordinary teams' for their care during her treatment, stating: 'The kindness, professionalism and compassion I've experienced has been nothing short of incredible.' Her loyal fans flooded social media with supportive messages after she shared her health update. One follower wrote: 'Pneumonia is no joke!' while another said: 'I'm so glad that you have recovered and are doing better!'
Previous Health Scare
This isn't Waissel's first serious health scare. In 2021, she was rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack, during which she had to crawl down the stairs and dial 999 for help.
