Katie Price's Husband Lee Andrews Warned to Shelter Amid Dubai Missile Threat
Lee Andrews, the husband of British celebrity Katie Price, was urgently warned to seek immediate shelter as Dubai faced a serious missile threat amidst escalating regional conflicts. The businessman, who resides in the United Arab Emirates, shared alarming updates on social media as warning sirens blared across the city.
Emergency Alerts and Social Media Updates
At 41 years old, Lee Andrews took to Instagram to post a video capturing the sound of warning alarms, alerting residents to a potential missile attack. He explained, "Wow, can you hear that alarm going off? That is to warn us that there is a missile nearby. I've already had an SMS." He also shared a screenshot of an emergency notification sent to his phone, which was issued in both Arabic and English.
The message read: "Due to current situation, a potential missile threats, seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building, and to steer away from windows, doors, and open areas. Await for further instructions. (MOI)." This alert was followed by another screenshot from what appeared to be the UAE Ministry of Defence, stating that air defences were actively responding to incoming missiles and drones from Iran.
Regional Conflict and Travel Disruptions
The missile threat comes as Iran has been attacking American allies across the Middle East, affecting thousands of British nationals abroad. In response, the United Arab Emirates government has issued strict travel advice, raising its level to do not travel due to the volatile security situation. The UAE airspace may open or close abruptly, impacting flights at major airports like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Lee Andrews mentioned that Katie Price was planning to fly out to meet him in Oman, despite the ongoing conflict and widespread flight cancellations. He told his followers, "The flights have started to open. The flights are a bit backed up, but if not, you can always go through Oman, it is next door and one of the neighbouring countries." He added, "I'm not going to tell you all my plans, but Katie would fly there, and I would go to Oman and pick her up and bring her home because that's what you do when you are married and in love, you try everything right?"
Official Warnings and Safety Measures
The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has also advised against all but essential travel to the United Arab Emirates, warning that travel insurance could be invalidated if ignored. Their website emphasises, "Regional escalation poses significant security risks and has led to travel disruption. Stay away from areas around security or military facilities." Authorities urge residents and travellers to follow local instructions and monitor media for updates.
This incident highlights the broader tensions in the Middle East, with retaliatory strikes occurring across the region following military actions against Iran. The public is advised to adhere to safety protocols, such as seeking shelter and avoiding open areas, to mitigate risks during these uncertain times.
