Katie Price has admitted that "some things could have been avoided" as she discussed the fact that it has been years since she last saw her ex-husband Peter Andre. The former couple, who split in 2009, are the parents of Junior, 21, and Princess, 19.
Princess is now planning to bring her parents together again. In her ITV reality show The Princess Diaries, she revealed plans to invite both her mother and father to a launch event for her cosmetics brand, though she acknowledged it might be "awkward".
Picnic conversation
In the episode, Princess joined Katie for a picnic where they discussed the fact that Katie and Peter have not spent much time together. "I mean, I still haven't met up with your dad face to face yet," Katie admitted. "It is weird, isn't it?"
"It is weird," agreed Princess. "But everything happens for a reason. Do you not think it does?"
"Not really, I think some things could have been avoided," Katie continued. "But it is what it is, and you just move on."
Plans for the launch
Talking to brother Junior later in the show, Princess said: "It's so important to me that for the official launch later on this year, I have as many friends and family with me. So I've been thinking, mum and dad are in a truce now, so I'm going to just invite mum and dad and whoever wants to come comes. Like, it might be quite awkward, though."
Junior, who has embarked on a music career following in his father's footsteps, responded: "Yeah, first time in a room." He also revealed that when he used to perform, he didn't invite both Katie and Peter, who has three children with his wife Emily MacDonagh, to the same gig.
However, Junior expressed optimism about the situation, saying it would "be good". "They've got a truce, so it'll be good," he commented. He added that the event was about "supporting" Princess.
History of the couple
Katie and Peter first crossed paths when they were both contestants in the third series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! back in 2004, and they married in 2005. However, the couple parted ways in 2009. The Princess Diaries is available on ITVX.
