Katie Price has told fans she received “devastating news” on Wednesday night, but reassured them it is not related to her terminally ill mother, Amy, who has idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
The former glamour model, 48, took to social media to share a statement: “Had devastating news tonight. Love, health and family is so important. Cherish every moment with loved ones and build memories. And no it’s not my mum.” She did not elaborate on what had happened, but hours earlier she had shared photos from her appearance at London Fashion Week.
Reassurance about her mother's health
This week, Katie also shared reassurance about her mum’s health, saying she was “so strong” and that she would be visiting her soon. The statement comes just weeks after Katie said her mum has “just days left”.
Earlier this year, Katie made a plea for her mum to “find the strength to stay with me longer on this earth”. Writing on Instagram, she said: “You’re my EVERYTHING. And you know I’ve turned everything around and you’re so proud of me. You’re my eyes, my voice, my strength, my absolute Everything.” She continued: “You’re a warrior and I’m your baby girl always and you love me through everything and held my hand. I can’t lose you, not now not EVER.”
Amy's health battle
Speaking on her podcast with sister Sophie, Katie also said that Amy was in hospital at the moment and was “very poorly”. Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017 and was initially given a life expectancy of between three and five years, but has repeatedly defied expectations.
The condition causes irreversible scarring of the lungs, making it increasingly difficult to breathe. Amy underwent a life-saving lung transplant in 2023 after falling into a coma and coming close to death. In July, Katie said she feared her mum might die while she was filming her recent autobiographical documentary for Sky.
