Katie Price has reignited her long-standing feud with Victoria Beckham, this time over her ex-boyfriend Dane Bowers. The former glamour model alleges she was 'banned' from accompanying Dane during the early 2000s when he was touring to promote his single 'Out of Your Mind', which featured Victoria.
Katie Claims Relationship Changed During Tour
At the time, Katie, now 48, had been in a relationship with Dane for two years. In her new documentary, 'Katie Price: Nothing To Hide', she reveals that she immediately noticed the relationship 'sort of changed' when Dane began touring with Victoria. 'I was a nothing because it's now Victoria, and Victoria and Victoria,' she stated. Mimicking a child-like tone, Price said: 'Victoria, bloody hell, Victoria.'
Katie continued: 'He had this job to do, and I was always allowed to go with him, but on this trip, I wasn't allowed and I didn't understand why I wasn't allowed. I started thinking "What just because you're with Victoria now, what is wrong with me going with you?" I was in tears, thinking "What's happened, he's changed, this isn't the Dane I know?"'. There was no romantic link between Dane and Victoria, who was already married to Manchester United's David Beckham.
Calendar Shoot Led to Ultimatum and Breakup
Dane had grown frustrated with Katie's topless modelling, prompting her to adopt a more covered-up approach in her shoots. Yet when the chance to create a new calendar presented itself, she seized it without hesitation. 'Why would I turn down doing a calendar? That's one of the great things to do, having your own calendar,' Katie declared. 'I want to be sexy in it, and you can't do a calendar and not be sexy in it. That little head is there tapping me, just do it, just do it, Kate and deal with the aftermath after.'
Dane presented Katie with an ultimatum: abandon the calendar and preserve their relationship, or proceed and face a breakup. She chose to forge ahead with her plans. 'I don't think she believed me. When those shots came out, I said "That's it, we're over,"' Dane revealed in the documentary. Katie and Dane were together from 1998 to 2000, and during their relationship, she became pregnant but chose to have a termination.
Long-Standing Rivalry With Victoria Beckham
Victoria and Katie's bitter rivalry stretches back years. Katie previously alleged that Victoria crooned 'Who Let the Dogs Out?' upon her entrance to the Manchester Airport lounge during the Nineties. After the Spice Girls musical 'Viva Forever!' premiered in 2012, Katie attacked Victoria, dubbing her 'Misery Spice'. When Victoria outlined her daily schedule in Harper's Bazaar US, Katie struck back, insisting the former pop star must have relied on nannies and household staff.
Penning her thoughts in her Sun on Sunday column, Katie stated: 'I'm sure Victoria is a brilliant mum and there is obviously a lot of love between her and her kids. But I don't think she's being entirely honest. What you don't see in all the shots of her being the perfect mum is the nanny who is probably pushing the buggy behind her. You never see Victoria looking anything less than immaculate and there is no way you can achieve that, day in day out, without help if you're a working mum with four kids.'
