Katie Price Admits 'Relentless' Press Stories Affected Her Family
Katie Price on How Press Stories Affected Her Family

Katie Price has admitted that ‘relentless’ stories about her in the press over the years ‘affected’ her family. The former glamour model, who rose to fame as Jordan in 1996, has been in the spotlight for three decades. She appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2004, where she met Peter Andre, and has since starred in numerous reality shows and pursued pop music.

Recent Controversy and Prison Ordeal

Last month, Price’s husband Lee Andrews was reported missing five days after he was last seen. The couple married in January shortly after meeting. Price initially claimed he was kidnapped but later confirmed he was held at Dubai’s Al Awir prison on espionage suspicions. Lee has since been released.

Impact on Mental Health

Speaking to the Press Association, Price said media coverage ‘fascinates’ her and she takes it as a compliment, but acknowledged its toll. ‘I’m not saying I’ve done things the best way... but I am real,’ she stated. ‘My relationship with the press now is... everything is on social media, they now have to find stuff for clickbait.’

Price noted she has ‘moved in with the times,’ embracing digital media with her podcast and 2.7 million Instagram followers. She recalled a 15-year period where coverage was ‘shocking,’ adding: ‘A lot of journalists don’t care... They forget what they write sticks and affects you, affects the family. They were relentless and that didn’t help with my breakdown.’

New Documentary Series

Despite past struggles, Price says she ‘still loves working with the media’ but enjoys choosing her opportunities. Her new Sky four-part series, Katie Price: Nothing To Hide, premieres July 8.
