Piers Morgan Returns to Good Morning Britain After 1,453 Days, Hug Snub with Susanna Reid

Piers Morgan made a surprise return to Good Morning Britain on Monday, 1,453 days after storming off the set in 2021. The 59-year-old journalist appeared to discuss his experience with Donald Trump, but his reunion with former co-host Susanna Reid got off to an awkward start.

As Reid introduced Morgan, he interrupted to ask for a hug, saying, 'Am I not even going to get a hug?' Reid initially refused, replying 'no I don't want a hug,' but eventually relented and shared a brief embrace on the sofa.

Morgan quit GMB in March 2021 after an on-air row with weatherman Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle. During his return, Morgan called for Beresford to be brought back into the studio to 'get the whole family back together,' but Beresford was conveniently broadcasting from an outside location.

Morgan shared his insights on Trump, saying the US president 'wants peace not war' and that 'you either kiss the ring a bit or don't.' He also praised Sir Keir Starmer for 'playing a blinder' in his meeting with Trump.

The return was announced on X (formerly Twitter) the night before, with Morgan writing: 'BREAKING: It's been nearly 4yrs (1,453 days to be precise!) since I departed @gmb rather hastily… but tomorrow morning, for the first time, I'm going back.'
