Katie Price Emotional Tribute to 'My Prince' Peter Andre in TV Doc
Katie Price Emotional Tribute to Peter Andre in TV Doc

Katie Price has emotionally admitted that meeting Peter Andre in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle was the "best time in her life." The former glamour model, 48, looks back over her 30 years in the spotlight for a new Sky TV documentary series, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide.

Reflecting on the Jungle Romance

In the second episode, director Paddy Wivell hands Price an iPad so she can watch herself meeting singer Andre in the Australian camp in 2004. Watching the footage, she says: "If I like someone like I liked him, I go all shy. I can't look at them, and I go all like giddy. It's pathetic, but that's what I was like. You could see we were into each other and it is so cute to look at."

Her brother Daniel, who watched the show from home, recalls: "I know when Kate is knee deep, because she just has this glaze across her eyes. It's like a puppy in a shop window waiting to be picked up. A never-ending glare into space because she's so mesmerized and smitten. And she had that with Pete."

"Best Times of My Life"

Price then says: "By the end of it I was smitten with him. Meeting Pete and being with Pete were the best times of my life, without a doubt." She adds: "I had my prince, I knew I would be with him forever." After leaving the jungle, the pair had a perfect romance, marrying in 2005 and having children Junior and Princess. They also starred in their own reality show together on ITV.

However, cracks began to show, and the couple split in 2009, leading to a long-term feud and war of words. Price described things as "spiralling out of control."

Mother's Reservations

In the documentary, Price's mother Amy is shown having reservations about Pete even as the romance began. Waiting in Australia to greet Katie when she left the jungle, Amy says: "I knew when she'd come out, she'd be all dolally over him. 'I want to be with him all the time. I want to marry him. Oh, Pete, Pete, Pete, Pete.' Yeah, she was just totally besotted, and so I knew it was going to be a bit of a long ride. No, I used to think 'oh my god'." Katie adds: "My mum was suspicious from the start."

Documentary Details and Future

The comments come from the second episode; the third and fourth episodes, expected to detail the split, have not been previewed. The series drops in full on July 8 on Sky. Price launched the series at the Sheffield Documentary festival last month, calling it the start of a new beginning. She said: "I am so proud, you know. I've got beautiful kids. I've still got an amazing family. There's not that many friends left for me, because I've learned that some of the friends are people I've needed to get rid of. But I am definitely the best version I've ever been of myself. It's like I've been in a washing machine and come out the other side with the experience and the knowledge, and I am at peace with myself. I feel like I'm starting my career again, and this is the start of my new career."

Despite being currently married to Lee Andrews, she also told the audience she might marry again in the future, adding: "What am I going to be like in 20 years? I should certainly look different, my face will be up here. How many more marriages? I don't know."
