Reality TV star Katie Price has launched a thinly-veiled attack on her ex-husband, Peter Andre, during the latest episode of her podcast, where she passionately complained about her 'parenting rights' and lack of control as a mother.
The Podcast Outburst
The former glamour model, 47, did not explicitly name her former partner but bemoaned the dynamic of someone 'dictating' what her children do without her having a say. Speaking on the show she hosts with her sister Sophie, 35, Katie expressed her deep frustration.
'When you've got a child, right. I don't know the right word, but say like with your kids. If you had someone dictating what your kids do and they won't give you a say, it's like taking your mother's instinct. Your mother's right,' Katie stated. She emphasised the emotional toll, adding, 'It does hurt my feelings because I am their mother and I will always be their mother, regardless. People who make money off them will come and go, yet your mother will be there forever.'
The Reality TV Battle
This public spat is the latest chapter in a long-running feud, which has recently centred on their two children, Princess, 18, and Junior, 20. The conflict escalated over Katie being banned from appearing in Princess's ITV reality series, The Princess Diaries.
In a significant development, Peter Andre and Princess's stepmother, Emily, have now pulled out from the show's second season. This decision came after backlash from Katie regarding her exclusion. Insiders revealed that the move was intended to quieten the 'noise' surrounding Katie's absence and allow the series to focus solely on Princess.
An insider explained, 'Pete and Emily will not feature in The Princess Diaries seasons two and three... It was discussed between him and Princess, and they decided as a family that it's better for the show to focus on Princess alone.' The source added that Peter took a 'massive step back' to prevent Princess from feeling caught between her parents.
A History of Tension
Last August, Katie publicly hit out at her deliberate exclusion from the show's first season, claiming that Peter and his management team considered her 'trash' and would not allow her to participate in any of Princess's professional endeavours, from photoshoots to public appearances.
Peter Andre responded forcefully on Instagram, revealing for the first time that he had sole custody of Junior and Princess from 2018 until they reached adulthood, a arrangement legally enforced by a family court order in 2019. He cited the children's 'safety' as the primary reason for this custody arrangement.
Katie and Peter, who were married for four years before their split in 2009, have remained in the public eye, with their co-parenting disputes frequently making headlines. Peter has since married doctor Emily, with whom he has three children.
