Katie Price broke down in tears while discussing her ex-husband Peter Andre, forcing her to halt filming of her new television documentary. The 48-year-old former glamour model grew so emotional that award-winning director Paddy Wivell watched the "energy drain out of her" as she struggled to continue.
Documentary Reveals Emotional Toll
The candid documentary, titled Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, airs at 9pm on Wednesday, July 8, on Sky Documentaries. It features several of Price's former partners, including Gareth Gates and Alex Reid. However, Peter Andre, to whom she was married from 2005 to 2009 after meeting on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, does not appear.
Price told the Mail: "Some of the places they took me back to meant I had to put myself back into those situations. I found a lot of that difficult. My brain would go fuzzy because I didn't want to think about how I felt then."
Director's Observations
Director Paddy Wivell, who won awards for his previous work, described witnessing Price's struggle firsthand. "It exhausted her because she's living with the traumatic effects of the abrupt end of a relationship," Wivell explained. "My sense was that she's learned to bury the pain in order to survive it. She told me she'd barely spent five minutes in a room alone with Peter since their split, so to her the conversation hasn't ended."
Divorce Reasons Revealed
Price and Andre, now 53, share two children: Junior Andre, 21, and Princess Andre, 19. For years, the exact reasons for their divorce remained unclear. Recently, Price spoke more openly, suggesting a misunderstanding escalated. On Paul C. Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast, she claimed Andre incorrectly believed she was having an affair with her dressage rider. "I've never slept with him. I just kept my horse there and I was happy keeping my horse there and he was married," she said.
Andre has hinted that "something big happened" to end their relationship. In a previous interview with Piers Morgan, he stated: "Something big happened, which I won't reveal as I don't want my kids reading it. Katie knows 100% the reason why I left her, and I am 100% sure that what happened definitely did happen."
Current Challenges
The documentary airs as Price continues to deal with the fallout from her husband Lee Andrews' arrest and imprisonment in Dubai. The pair reunited last month, and despite Price admitting on Instagram that their marriage is "f***ed up," she insists he is her "perfect match."
