Katie Price has told friends that the stress of her ex-husband Kieran Hayler being charged with rape has contributed to her drastic weight loss, sources claim. Hayler, 38, faces three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl between June and October 2016, during his marriage to Price.
A source told Closer magazine that Price, 47, is 'overwhelmed beyond belief' by the allegations, particularly as she may be called to give evidence when Hayler appears in court next month. 'The stress has literally eaten away at her muscles, not just fat – that’s why she’s been looking so skeletal,' the source said.
Price, who has five children, is said to be dreading any court appearance, fearing it will bring back traumatic memories. But the source added: 'At the end of the day, she will do what is right if she is needed.'
The charges emerged just as Price concluded a tour with Kerry Katona, during which she reportedly named the male celebrity she alleges raped her over 20 years ago. Price said she was in shock when the news about Hayler broke but performed professionally.
Now, the source says Price wants to focus on herself and regain weight after being told she must gain 18 to 20 lbs to reach a safe BMI. 'Her priority now is her kids and getting herself back on track,' the insider added.
