Reality television mainstay Katie Price has found herself in hot water once again, issuing a swift public apology after a crude social media post aimed at actress and presenter Emily Atack spectacularly backfired.
The controversial model, 46, took to her Instagram Stories over the weekend with a post that sent shockwaves through her follower base. The now-deleted image featured a mock-up of Atack's face superimposed onto the body of a fish, accompanied by a caption that fans deemed deeply offensive and a deliberate attempt to reignite an old feud.
The bizarre and vulgar post was a clear nod to a long-standing and 'fishy' disagreement between the two celebrities, a feud that has simmered for years since their respective appearances on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Backlash from Price's own fans was immediate and severe. Hundreds of followers flooded her comments, expressing their disappointment and labelling the post as 'petty', 'spiteful', and 'unnecessary'. The overwhelming negative response left the star with little choice but to perform a rapid U-turn.
In a classic damage limitation exercise, Price subsequently posted a video apology directly addressing Atack. 'I just want to apologise to Emily Atack,' she stated to her camera. 'My post earlier was taken the wrong way and I am sorry if any offence was caused. It was not meant like that.'
However, the sincerity of the apology was quickly called into question by sceptical social media users, who noted it was only offered after significant fan disapproval. Many interpreted the initial post as a calculated dig, given the history between the two personalities.
This latest incident is another chapter in Price's well-documented history of social media controversies and public spats, raising further questions about her conduct online and its impact on her career in the public eye.
