Katie McGlynn hides EastEnders lover Max Bowden

Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn and EastEnders actor Max Bowden are reportedly going to great lengths to keep their romance under wraps. The couple, who have been in an on-again, off-again relationship, are said to be determined to avoid the public scrutiny that followed Katie's previous split with TOWIE's Ricky Rayment.

Keeping it low-key

According to The Sun, Katie has instructed friends to remove Max from photos of her birthday trip to the Lake District and asked them not to post any images featuring him. A source told the publication: 'Katie and Max have been trying to keep things super low-key since getting back together.' The source added that Katie was 'really burnt by how publicly her last relationship with TOWIE star Ricky Rayment played out and when it ended she was humiliated it was all over.'

Origins of the romance

The pair first connected while starring together in the stage play Murder At Midnight, which toured the UK. Their professional relationship quickly turned personal, but reports of a split emerged just two months after the tour ended. However, they later reunited. An onlooker who saw them sharing a kiss at a Wetherspoons after a night on stage described them as 'very intimate and comfortable in each other's company.'

On-off again

The relationship has had its ups and downs. After initially splitting, a source told The Sun: 'Max and Katie have had a bit of a whirlwind romance. ... Katie has come to her senses and decided to end things.' But four months later, they got back together. Another insider said: 'They remained friends and over the last couple of weeks decided to give things another go.'

Katie is reportedly focused on her career and avoids discussing Max publicly. 'It's hard not to want to tell the world when you're in love but she doesn't want to risk another relationship hitting the rocks so publicly,' the source added. Metro has contacted representatives for both stars for comment.
