Katie Holmes was the picture of elegance at the grand opening of Printemps in New York City on Thursday night, just weeks after her daughter Suri Cruise returned to Carnegie Mellon University for her freshman year.
The Dawson's Creek star wore a brown long-sleeved dress with an abstract spot pattern and a high neckline, paired with sheer brown tights and strappy sandals. She accessorised with a peach handbag and wore her hair in loose waves.
Holmes recently returned from Paris Fashion Week and has been adjusting to life as an empty nester. She told Town and Country: 'I'm proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her and I'm happy.'
The actress is looking forward to the second season of Poker Face, in which she plays Greta, a woman married to a funeral home owner. She described working with Natasha Lyonne as 'the best'.
Suri, Holmes's only child with ex-husband Tom Cruise, supported her mother at her final Broadway performance of Our Town in January.
