Katherine Jenkins stars in Marks and Spencer's Christmas advert wearing the retailer's Sequin Mini Bodycon Dress, priced at £45, a sparkly party piece that is expected to sell out.
The Welsh singer performs an exclusive cover of Belinda Carlisle's Heaven Is a Place on Earth for the festive campaign. The 46-year-old's little black dress, covered in light-catching sequins, features a classic round neckline and long sleeves, with a shorter hemline described as party-ready.
A versatile festive option
The fitted frock is lined on the body only, with a back button fastening, and is available in sizes 6 to 24. There are also petite, regular and tall options for shoppers who struggle to find a mini dress with the right length. The long sleeves offer extra coverage and warmth for the colder months.
M&S has a history of creating festive fashion demand with its Christmas adverts. In previous years, Dawn French featured in the retailer's campaigns, with the dresses she wore proving so popular that they sold out, and Katherine's sparkly dress is likely to follow suit.
Styling and alternatives
The sequins provide plenty of sparkle, so fashion fans do not need to overdo accessories. Strappy heels, a clutch bag and statement earrings would be enough, or the dress can be teamed with knee-high boots and a tailored coat for a more relaxed look.
As the dress has only just launched, there are currently no customer reviews. The mini length may not suit everyone, particularly those who prefer a longer dress for winter events.
Alternative party dresses include the Black Sequin Embellished Long Sleeve Midi Dress at New Look for £59.99, the Dusk Embellished Maxi Dress at Roman for £65, and the Blue Vanilla Lurex Diamante Swing Dress at Debenhams, reduced from £24 to £22.80.
The festive campaign
Katherine Jenkins' dress is part of M&S's wider festive campaign, which launched on November 6 and features James Norton as an undercover Father Christmas, alongside Amandaland star Lucy Punch as Mrs Claus. The advert sees Santa stepping away from the North Pole to experience Christmas in the real world, with Katherine Jenkins providing the soundtrack.
