A palace expert has revealed that Princess Kate is the member of the royal family closest to a 'rockstar' for King Charles III. Royal historian Catherine Mayer told PEOPLE that Kate is 'the closest they have to a rockstar member these days, and she’s the one everyone wants to see.'
Kate's Popularity and Health Battles
Mayer noted that the intense attention on Kate is 'a huge burden for anyone to carry, let alone someone who has had existential battles with her health.' In 2024, Kate temporarily stepped back from royal duties to undergo cancer treatment, announcing her diagnosis in March of that year. She has since entered remission and has gradually increased her public engagements.
Royal Ascot Appearance
Last week, Kate made her first appearance at Royal Ascot in three years, alongside Prince William. The couple attended Day 2 of the races in Berkshire, arriving in the Royal Carriage Procession to a warm welcome. A royal photographer captured Prince William smiling after a crowd member shouted 'Up The Villa,' referencing his support for Aston Villa football club.
