Kate Garraway Reportedly Finds New Love with Liam Halligan Two Years After Husband's Death

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway is reportedly in a budding romance with long-time friend and broadcaster Liam Halligan, two years after the death of her husband Derek Draper. A source told new that Halligan is the perfect man to mend her broken heart, describing him as outgoing, intelligent, and similar to Draper in character.

Halligan, 56, confirmed the connection on Mark Dolan’s TalkTV show, saying, “It’s early days, we’ll see what happens.” He explained that they were reintroduced after both became single “against our wishes,” and that Garraway recently attended a performance by his band, The Hooligans, in Saffron Walden, where they were seen getting cosy.

Garraway’s husband Derek, a political lobbyist and Britain’s longest-suffering Covid patient, died in January 2024 aged 56. The star has since faced crippling debt from nursing costs and deep loneliness. In 2023, she said, “It’s been tough financially … You have to make changes to your home and it affects your ability to work.”

Last year, Garraway, 58, opened up about finding love again on Jamie Laing’s podcast, saying Derek “would want me to be grabbing life.” She joked about finding single dads through friends and stressed she prefers traditional dating over apps.

Relationship expert Annabelle Knight warned that moving on after loss can trigger guilt and confusion, but a source said Garraway deserves happiness after her ordeal.
