Kate Garraway has spoken publicly for the first time about her new relationship with economist and broadcaster Liam Halligan, describing it as 'lovely' but admitting the pair have yet to enjoy a proper date.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 57, addressed the romance in an interview with the Mirror, saying: 'It is lovely. I suppose it is! We basically haven’t really had time for a proper date! I don’t want to jinx it!'
Halligan, 52, first confirmed the relationship last week in a column for The Spectator, writing that 'there’s a definite spark between us' but stressing it was 'early days'.
Garraway, whose husband Derek Draper died in January 2024 after a long battle with Covid, added that family commitments have delayed their first official date. 'My mum and dad have not been very well so I’ve been really consumed by that,' she explained.
The TV star has previously spoken about finding joy again after her husband's death, crediting her appearance on The Celebrity Traitors with helping her through a period of sadness. She told fellow contestants: 'I feel like I’ve laughed so much. I think I’ve had quite a few years recently of being quite sad.'
