Kate Garraway made a rare comment about her new partner, Liam Halligan, while attending the TRIC Awards solo on June 23, 2026. The Good Morning Britain host, 59, was all smiles on the red carpet at London's Grosvenor House, where she joined other TV and radio personalities.
When asked about Halligan's absence, Garraway reportedly quipped: "I didn't get a plus one so I couldn't bring anyone." She remained tight-lipped about the relationship's progress, simply adding: "I can't [say], thank you."
Winning at the TRIC Awards
Garraway took home the trophy for Best Game Show on behalf of the Celebrity Traitors cast. Other winners included Adolescence, Emmerdale, Clarkson's Farm, and Clare Balding.
Relationship with Liam Halligan
Garraway and Halligan, an economist, have been close friends for years before starting to date a few months ago. In May, Halligan wrote in the Spectator about the reaction to their romance: "As a sandwich-board man of the business pages, I'm 'flabbergasted' to be in the showbiz sections. Nobody wanted to know about my warnings of market meltdown but reporters now follow me around, asking: 'How's it going with Kate?'" He added: "Kate Garraway and I are from different parts of the media but have much in common – not least a shared sense of humour. Though it's early days, there's a definite spark between us."
Garraway previously described their relationship as "lovely" in an interview with the Mirror. She said: "We basically haven't really had time for a proper date! I don't want to jinx it!" She added: "He says to me, 'Now we're in the papers, is there a chance we can actually have some dates?' But my mum and dad have not been very well so I've been really consumed by that."
