Kate Ferdinand's Stepson Tate Admitted He 'Hated' Her

Kate Ferdinand's stepson Tate, 17, has revealed he 'hated' her and lied about her to his father Rio, the former Manchester United defender. In a candid episode of Kate's Blended podcast, Tate admitted he initially made things difficult for the couple, fabricating stories that Kate was meeting random men and that she had locked him and his siblings in a room.

Tate's Confession of Guilt and Jealousy

Tate explained that he felt 'so guilty' about liking Kate, believing his loyalty should remain with his late mother, Rebecca Ellison, who died from breast cancer in 2015. He described a 'confused state of mind' and admitted he 'hated' Kate at times, swinging between love and hate. 'I felt guilty for liking Kate and loving Kate. I felt guilty for my mum's family, for my mum,' he said.

Kate recounted an incident where a delivery of a phone for Rio led to Tate accusing her of 'meeting random men on the drive'. She said: 'Once I got a phone for Rio and the kids were asleep... someone came to drop it on the drive and they're a man. Tate told people that when dad's not there, I'm meeting men on the drive.' Tate admitted he was 'so jealous' and tried to get into her business.

Valentine's Day Balloon Incident

Another story involved Kate trying to hide a Valentine's Day balloon delivery from Rio's children, which allegedly spiralled into claims that she had 'locked them in a room'. Tate explained his confusion: 'Dad didn't really like surprise us with things like that. So that was like a bit of a weird thing like, 'why am I being told to stay in here for five minutes?' You come back as if nothing's happened.'

Blended Family Journey

Kate and Tate reflected on the 'hell of a journey' they have been on. Despite the past difficulties, Tate now acknowledges they have a great relationship. Kate recalled the moment their bond changed: 'I remember the day it changed, and you were like 'that's my step mum', I was like 'oh my god, I'm not his aunt anymore.'
