Kate Ferdinand has candidly shared the less glamorous aspects of her family's relocation to Dubai, revealing significant physical and emotional challenges that contrast sharply with the sun-soaked paradise image often associated with the Middle Eastern destination.
Physical Toll of Dubai's Climate
The 34-year-old television personality and wife of football legend Rio Ferdinand has experienced distressing skin issues since moving to Dubai last summer. During a recent episode of her podcast Blended, Kate disclosed that the extreme heat has caused unexpected dermatological problems.
"My skin has been so bad since I've lived in Dubai," Kate confessed emotionally. "I've had so many breakouts. I normally have quite clear skin, but I've been developing boils under my neck. I don't know if it's the heat or the weather, but I'm very insecure about it."
Environmental Adjustments Required
Beyond skin concerns, Kate highlighted other practical challenges of daily life in the United Arab Emirates. She explained that water quality differs significantly from what she experienced in England, necessitating special adaptations for basic household activities.

While Kate acknowledges that her immediate family is thriving in their new environment, she has been tearfully honest about missing her English home and facing difficult family separations.
"I am enjoying it, but I miss home quite a lot," she admitted during her podcast. "I can't talk about it because I get upset."

"I miss the big boys a lot, and I'm just struggling with that," she revealed. "I know this decision is right for my younger children, and as a family we are settled there, but the boys are following their football careers. They're doing what they want to do, otherwise they'd be with us. It's very hard because we've been through so much as a family, and we've always been together. That's a huge adjustment."
