Kate Ferdinand has been left devastated after the death of her pet chihuahua, Ronnie. The former TOWIE star, 34, shared a montage of memories with the dog on social media, captioning it: 'Heartbroken. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my baby Rons. So so sad.'
Ronnie originally came into Kate's life in 2015 during her time on The Only Way is Essex, when she was still with then-boyfriend Dan Edgar. After she married former footballer Rio Ferdinand, she changed the pup's surname to Ferdinand, saying he would 'fit in with the family'.
The pet had been struggling with health issues for some time. Kate had previously revealed that Ronnie had heart failure, and was a concern when the family moved to Dubai last year. She posted at the time: 'Ronnie has been in heart failure for a while now, so moving was a big worry for us.'
Kate and Rio live in Dubai's Al Barari gated community with their children Cree, four, and Shae, two, as well as Rio's three children from his first marriage: Lorenz, 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, 14. The family relocated from Bromley, where Rio worked as a pundit, for what Kate called a 'new chapter' and 'fresh start'.
