Kate Beckinsale has sparked fresh concern after sharing a selfie from her hospital bed on Saturday night, nearly two weeks after revealing she had been admitted for undisclosed reasons. The 50-year-old actress posted two pictures on Instagram showing her legs in fuzzy white bunny socks, captioning the post: 'Happy Easter.'
The Underworld star has not disclosed details of her health struggle, and MailOnline has contacted her representatives for comment. The Easter greeting follows an emotional Mother's Day post earlier in the week, in which Beckinsale shared tearful selfies from the ward alongside images of her mother, Judy Loe, who is battling significant health issues.
Beckinsale has been grieving the death of her stepfather, Roy Battersby, who died in January aged 87 after suffering a massive stroke while battling two forms of cancer. A source claimed to ET that she 'hasn't been doing or feeling well' but is 'doing her best to take care of herself.'
In recent months, Beckinsale has been caring for her mother and late stepmother, flying them from the UK to her home in Los Angeles. A source told DailyMail.com last year: 'Kate has been caring for her parents, who both have serious illnesses, for most of the year. She brought them to her home in LA and has made looking after them her number one priority.'
Friends have expressed concern over the emotional toll, with one insider revealing: 'She was spotted this week several times crying in the corridors of UCLA hospital. Her friends are very concerned that she has been under relentless strain for months and hardly sleeping or eating.'
