Kate Ferdinand has been left devastated following the death of her pet chihuahua, Ronnie. The former TOWIE star, now married to ex-footballer Rio Ferdinand, shared a heartfelt montage of memories with the tiny pooch on social media, captioning it: 'Heartbroken. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my baby Rons. So so sad.'
Ronnie had been a constant companion for Kate since 2015, when she and then-boyfriend Dan Edgar adopted him during their time on The Only Way is Essex. The dog made several appearances on the show and was originally co-owned by the pair. After Kate married Rio in 2019, she renamed the dog Ronnie Ferdinand to fit into the family.
The family relocated to Dubai last year, a move Kate had worried about due to Ronnie's heart failure, which she had previously disclosed. She had expressed concerns about the stress of the move on his health but noted he was settling well, with limited walks due to the heat. The dog's death has now left Kate 'heartbroken,' according to her emotional social media post.
Kate and Rio live in the exclusive Al Barari community with their children Cree and Shae, as well as Rio's three children from his first marriage. Ronnie's passing marks the end of an era for the family, who had cherished the little dog for nearly a decade.
