Celtic target Kasper Hogh is "very interested" in a move to Parkhead. The Bodo/Glimt striker is the subject of strong interest from the Hoops as Martin O'Neill looks to bolster his frontline.
Celtic ready to step up interest in Danish striker
It's believed Celts are ready to step up their interest in the £8million Danish hitman with Daizen Maeda set to be unveiled by Ipswich Town on Friday in an exit worth up to £10m.
Boss O'Neill has only added one face so far this summer - £6m forward Camilo Duran - with the Premiership defence just over a week away. That's angered Celtic supporters who have been at war with the under-fire board since last summer over the club's sluggish pace in the market.
But landing prolific Hogh - who netted six goals in the Champions League last season - would take some heat off chief exec Michael Nicholson. The 25-year-old would be viewed as a marquee signing and Norwegian outlet Sporten claims the Denmark international is keen on a switch to Glasgow. However, it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed with Bodo/Glimt.
Mika Baur talks drag on
Elsewhere, Celtic are still locked in talks with Bundesliga outfit Paderborn over a £4m swoop for midfielder Mika Baur. Boss O'Neill had hoped to have the German Under-21 playmaker on board for the week, but as things stand, negotiations are dragging on.
It's understood Hoops chiefs have already thrashed out personal terms with the 22-year-old. Baur is out of contract next summer but newly-promoted Paderborn are willing to lose their biggest asset for free unless their valuation is met. Egypt winger Haissem Hassan also remains a target.
Jota returns to training
Meanwhile, Jota has taken another significant step on the long road back from injury. The Portuguese winger returned to Lennoxtown earlier this week and has been involved in light training as he continues his recovery.
The fan favourite has been sidelined since suffering a devastating cruciate ligament injury in April 2025 and has endured a series of setbacks during his rehabilitation. Jota spent the summer continuing his recovery programme in Portugal but is now back in Glasgow as he steps up his bid to regain full fitness - but is unlikely to be available until October at the earliest.
