Kaleb Cooper, the breakout star of the hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm, has revealed the moment he was asked to join the show—and his characteristically blunt four-word response says a lot about his personality.
The Four-Word Response That Stole the Show
In a recent interview, Cooper recounted how he was first approached by Charlie Ireland—known to fans as "Cheerful Charlie"—a land agent and agronomist who works on the farm. Ireland told Cooper that Howard, the previous contractor, had "given up now," leaving a slot open. He asked: "Will you come on as a contractor for two months until Jeremy takes the farm on?"
Cooper's immediate reaction was a stunned: "Back the f*** up." He recalled thinking, "What did you just say?" utterly gobsmacked by the news that Jeremy Clarkson would be taking over the farm.
From Skepticism to Stardom
When Ireland repeated the request, Cooper agreed to be a contractor but pressed: "What'd you say after that?" Upon learning that Clarkson would be running the farm, Cooper flatly declared: "No, he's not. He can't do that. No." He was reminded that it was Clarkson's farm, so he could do what he wanted—a point Cooper reluctantly accepted.
Cooper then looked after the farm for two months while producers interviewed other candidates to play his role on the show. It wasn't until the last day that the director asked him to pop up and see Jeremy in the office—a moment that marked his first appearance in series one.
