An emotional Kai Trump sobbed as she opened up about entering a 'scary new chapter' of her life. The 18-year-old, who is the eldest grandchild of President Donald Trump, regularly shares videos with her millions of YouTube followers. She often records herself enjoying the finer things in life - from shopping at high-price stores like Erewhon to flaunting A-list experiences such as flying first class. But her most recent upload was a departure from her usual content, as she gave fans an intimate glimpse of a very vulnerable moment.
Saying Goodbye to High School
Kai admitted that she was having a tough time saying goodbye to her friends as she prepares to head out to college. In the 21-minute-long vlog, the golf enthusiast took viewers through her final week of high school as she tearfully explained that she is 'not a very emotional person' but had been upset in recent days. 'I normally don't cry,' she said. 'I'm not a very emotional person but it's very sad because these are the people I've been with since I moved to Florida. And now they were all going to different colleges... we're all splitting up now and it's really sad.'
The teenager, who announced in 2024 that she was going to stay in Florida for college and play golf at the University of Miami, was seemingly overcome with emotion as she struggled to compose herself, telling her friend, 'you talk.' 'This is literally our last week of high school ever,' Kai said incredulously. She then reflected on her high school years, adding: 'This is very sad, guys, because I don't know... I've had a great time in high school. I've met a great group of people, great class and school and everything like that.'
Looking Forward to the Future
While sad about a chapter coming to a close, Kai said she's looking forward to the future. 'It's on to the next chapter. And it's scary, but it's exciting, but it's sad. It's like all the emotions in one,' she said. In the lengthy video, Kai also took viewers through their senior prank day, which included covering classrooms in paper towels, putting all the chairs in the hallway and covering the stairs in plastic Solo cups. After trying on her graduation cap and gown, Kai reflected on the past few years. 'It's just crazy how fast time has flown, how much I've grown in the past four years as a person, just everything,' she said. 'I'm ready for the next chapter. It's a little scary, but I'm ready for it. I'm going to miss my friends more than anything, I'm going to miss school more than anything.'
Kai first shared her college news in August 2024 in an Instagram post, writing: 'I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Miami. I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point. I would like to thank my grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support… I am super excited to be a cane and represent the University of Miami. Gooo Canes!'
Kai, in addition to developing her golf career, has also built a large following as an influencer. In 2025, she reflected on her year in a New Year's Day post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: '2025 was such a big year. From my grandpa becoming president, to starting my senior year of high school, making my LPGA debut, and going all in on YouTube - it's been a year I'll always remember. So grateful for everyone who's been part of the journey.'
