Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a brief cameo in Katy Perry's latest TikTok video, prompting an outpouring of positive reactions from Canadians who say he looks "genuinely happy." The 54-year-old former PM is seen bouncing across the screen while the 41-year-old pop star lip-syncs to her song "Watch It Burn" in a parking lot with her team.
Trudeau and Perry have been dating for almost a year, going public in October 2025 and making their red carpet debut last month at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her concert film. The clip captioned "ancient texts say that if you hop to this song you will get 1,000 years of good luck" has been flooded with comments from Canadians cheering on the former leader.
"I love seeing our old prime minister having the time of his life," one wrote. Another added: "From one Canadian: it's nice to see Justin looking genuinely happy again. Life's too short not to enjoy the good moments." A third observer noted: "Pretty sure I spotted a very happy former Prime Minister of Canada bounce behind you. He deserves to be happy."
Trudeau served as Canada's 23rd prime minister from 2015 until he resigned in March 2025 amid declining approval ratings. He and Perry sparked romance rumours last summer after a private dinner in Montreal, months after her split from longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom. The couple was later photographed holding hands at a cabaret show for her 41st birthday.
Trudeau's eldest son, 18-year-old singer Xavier, has given his approval, saying on a podcast that Perry is "super nice" and "super down to earth." Xavier added that he sends her his songs for advice. Trudeau has three children with his estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, from whom he legally separated in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
