Junior Andre has spoken about his decision to take part in his mother Katie Price's documentary Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, revealing he told her he would answer with "100% pure honesty" and would not hold back the truth.
Speaking to the Mirror, Junior said he rang Katie before filming to tell her he intended to be completely open. "My mum's had an amazing life, lots of ups and downs. She's one of a kind," he said. "And at the end of the day, we want to support both our parents, and we want them both to be happy."
"So, when it came to this documentary, long story short, I rang up my mum and I was like, 'Listen, these are the questions that they want to ask me. I'm gonna tell you them all, but I'm telling you that I'm gonna answer them all with 100% pure honesty. I'm not gonna hold back.' Because what's the point? I'm not gonna do something to lie or do something to be half-hearted."
Junior said his mum gave him her support. "She was like, 'Absolutely, like that makes sense. I want you to be honest'. And I was like, 'Okay, well, you make the decision for me because I want to respect both my parents.'"
In the documentary, Junior and his sister Princess were both moved to tears as they discussed the impact of Katie's cocaine binges on their lives.
Princess Diaries and TfL job
Junior has also been appearing on his sister's series The Princess Diaries, where he recently admitted that he had a crush on Emily MacDonagh when he was six years old, years before she married his father Peter. "It's just silly and funny. I was like six years old, and when you're just a little boy, I was a kid. I used to come up with loads of one-liners when I was a little little kid. So it's just one of them," he said. "I think at six years old, I thought every everyone was my girlfriend."
In the same series, he revealed he had spent a year working for TfL on the London Underground. "I was working for the the TFL on the London Underground, specifically on the Piccadilly line, I was doing night shifts from Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 5am every week. I was doing that for about half a year, and then I the remainder of the year, I then worked in an office, kind of recruiting people on the London Underground," he explained.
Junior said he was "humbled" by the work and wanted to stand on his own feet financially. "A lot of people will say 'Junior doesn't know what days of hard work looks like', and, 'he's been silver spoon-fed'," he said. He added that he didn't have his own money and needed to get a job, and that he was not someone who lives off his parents, though they would be there if he needed help.
Growing up in the spotlight
Junior has grown up on camera, appearing on his parents' reality show as a child and later on his sister's series. He said it is "quite funny" to see old clips of himself and Princess on TikTok. "I have seen recently a few clips of of me as a little kid on TikTok, like on on my mum and dad's old reality show, which is just quite funny to look at. You know, quite a few of princess throwing tantrums and me winding her up, and it just shows how our brother and sister bond has grown."
He acknowledged that it is a "mad thought" that his entire life has been documented. "I've been on TV since I was born, and it's just quite a mad thought. Like I literally have just grown up on TV and around it, and I'm still doing it now, 21 years later."
He also spoke about the misconceptions people have about him as a celebrity child. "There's so many misconceptions all the time. People probably think before they meet me that I'm gonna be arrogant, probably big-headed, probably like just snobby," he said, adding that "as soon as people get know me and talk to me, and see I've got time for everyone", the impression changes.
Music career and Manchester show
Junior is now following in his father's footsteps with a music career, though his sound is very different to Peter's classic pop hits. He is set to perform at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards in Manchester, which will be one of his biggest performances to date. He said the nerves haven't hit yet. "So usually it hits me kind of the day before. There'll be a bit of anxiety, a bit of nervousness, but it all comes from just me caring and wanting to give the best performance that I can give," he said.
Before performing, he works out backstage. "So obviously vocal warm-ups, but that's standard. I'm pumping the blood around my body, doing push-ups, jumping jacks, whatever. Just just getting the adrenaline, rushing, running on the spot, smacking my chest, like amping myself up, getting myself ready."
He also teased that he will perform his new single "Goosebumps" at the event. "And yeah, I'm really excited because one of the songs I'll be performing will be my new single that I will be looking to release very soon," he said. He added: "I'll let your mind wander a little bit with with what that could be...it could be to do with love and feeling good, and yeah, that that type of stuff."
