Julia Garner Splits from Husband Mark Foster After Six Years

Julia Garner, the Emmy-winning actress known for her roles in Netflix's Ozark and Inventing Anna, has reportedly separated from her husband, Mark Foster, the lead singer of the band Foster the People, after six years of marriage. The news was confirmed by a source to People magazine, following weeks of speculation sparked by Garner's absence of a wedding ring on set.

Breakup Rumors and Last Public Appearance

Garner, 32, and Foster, 42, were last seen together at the Vogue World afterparty in October 2025. In June 2026, while filming the thriller Tyrant in New York alongside Charlize Theron and Demi Moore, Garner was photographed without her wedding ring, fueling split rumors. According to People, a source confirmed the separation, though representatives for Garner and Foster have not commented when approached by the Mirror.

A Whirlwind Romance and Wedding

The couple first met in 2013 but did not begin dating until years later, reconnecting over Instagram. Garner told The Hollywood Reporter that Foster had been liking her photos, prompting her to follow him, after which he sent her a message. Foster proposed during a trip to Montana in April 2019, after writing Garner a poem. She described the moment to Vogue: “He read me a poem he had written to me, and when he finished, he dropped to a knee and asked me to marry him.”

The pair married in December 2019 at a New York City courthouse—the same venue where Garner’s parents had wed four years earlier. During their celebration, Foster surprised Garner with an original song, “Lovers in a Stream,” which Garner called “the most beautiful present” she had ever received, adding that she felt “magical” and like she was “floating up in the air.”

Deleted Social Media Posts

Over the years, both Garner and Foster had celebrated their marriage milestones on social media, but many of these posts have since been deleted. Foster removed all Instagram posts from before 2024, including a tribute to their second wedding anniversary. Garner’s post marking their third anniversary was also deleted.

Garner's Flourishing Career

Despite the personal upheaval, Garner’s career continues to thrive. She won a Golden Globe and three Emmys for her portrayal of Ruth Langmore in Ozark (2017–2022). She later played fraudster Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna, the Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, and Justine Gandy in the Oscar-nominated film Weapons.

In her Emmy acceptance speech, Garner thanked Foster, calling him “the love of my life.” After her Golden Globe win, she added, “I want to say thank you to my team who has been with me for years, my husband, Mark, I love you.”
