Josie Gibson Shows Off 'New Arms' After Surgery

Josie Gibson has proudly displayed her 'new arms' on social media, months after undergoing brachioplasty surgery. The This Morning presenter first revealed her procedure in March, when she underwent an arm lift to address lipoedema.

Social Media Reveal

In a recent Instagram video, Gibson posed in several dresses from Odd Muse, drawing attention to her transformed arms. She captioned the post: 'A little @oddmuselondon overhaul designed by @aimeesmalex showing off my new arms.' The video garnered supportive comments from celebrities, including Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley, who wrote: 'Baaaaabe you look so gorgeous.' Former Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown added: 'Bloody gorgeous.'

Diagnosis and Surgery Decision

Gibson was diagnosed with lipoedema – a condition causing abnormal fat buildup, primarily in the legs and arms. In March, she shared a video explaining her decision to have brachioplasty. 'I went in to see Paul Tulley last Friday for brachioplasty. There was nothing wrong with me. I'm really, really good, in fact,' she said. 'For those of you who don't know what brachioplasty is, obviously I had liposuction on my arms, and then I've had an arm lift, and that's because the lipoedema is obviously on my arms as well.'

Fighting Genetics and Inspiring Others

The former Big Brother star has been open about her battle with lipoedema, describing it as 'constantly fighting my genetics.' Earlier this year, she posted a workout video, captioning it: 'Hope this inspires someone out there…not that I think I'm an inspiration…I'm just one of those who is constantly fighting my genetics. I was diagnosed with lipodema last year which I always knew anyway. So the fight is real as my body retains fat unlike a normal body should.'

Cost and Procedure Details

Gibson later appeared on This Morning and revealed she spent £7,000 on surgery. 'The last thing I want to do is put myself through surgery. But it was the last resort,' she explained. 'What they do is like this lipo treatment then they laser it after. So they burn your skin on the inside so that it tightens together again. I've only done my calves. It's split up into sections. You can't do it all at once in this country. And I was too scared to have it done abroad.' She noted that while pleased with the results, 'it's a lot of money and time. I've paid over £7k for just my calves.' Co-host Ben Shephard remarked, 'Luckily you're in a position where you can afford it,' to which Gibson agreed: 'I know, and a lot of people can't.'
