Josie Gibson, the 41-year-old This Morning presenter, has proudly displayed the results of her recent surgery by modeling sleeveless dresses in an Instagram post, prompting an outpouring of compliments from fans.
Surgery for Painful Condition
Gibson, who rose to fame after winning Big Brother in 2011 and later appeared on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, underwent an operation to address a painful health battle known as lipoedema. She posted an advertisement for a fashion company, posing in a variety of sleeveless dresses, and captioned the post by saying she was 'showing off my new arms.'
Fans quickly flooded the comments section with praise. One wrote: 'You looking stunning Josie always have but your confidence has gone up ten fold.' Another said: 'Josie you look amazing,' and a third commented: 'You are so beautiful Josie, both inside and out. Love how down to earth you are xxx.'
Lipoedema Diagnosis
Gibson had previously explained that she suffered from lipoedema, a connective adipose tissue disorder that primarily affects women. Unlike regular body fat, this abnormal accumulation cannot be eliminated through exercise or diet alone. She underwent a £7,000 surgery to treat the condition.
Upon receiving her diagnosis, Gibson said: 'I said to them, "I train, I don't feel like I overeat, I'm fit and healthy." They said you could train seven days a week but you don't get rid of lipoedema fat like that. It's like congealed fat.'
Further Surgeries
In January, she opened up further about the condition on This Morning with co-stars Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. She said: 'I've been to see a lot of experts… I've been to Berlin to see one, I've seen three in London. And basically they said it's when your body holds onto fat differently.'
Gibson has since undergone liposuction and an arm lift. In September of the previous year, she also had surgery on her calves. At the time, she explained: 'What they do is they've got this stuff for lipoedema now where they do this lipo treatment and they burn your skin on the inside so your skin tightens together again. I've only done my calves and it's split into sections, you can't do it all at once. But it's a lot of money each time, I think I paid over £7,000 for just my calves.'
Weight Loss Journey
Prior to her surgeries, Gibson revealed that she had lost five stone in six months. In her book, 'The Josie Gibson Diet,' she details the four fundamental steps she followed, stating: 'I didn't get a gastric bypass; I got off my big a**e, moved more, ate less, and educated myself on what I was stuffing into my body.'
Speaking to the Mirror, Gibson acknowledged that being overly strict proved unsustainable. She admitted that permitting herself some leeway was crucial for genuinely enjoying her life. She explained: 'So I did the six-day plan on Do The Unthinkable, which entitled me to one day off. Now on that one day off, I had one cheat meal - I didn't go crazy and drink 10 bottles of wine and binge all day on food and chocolate and all the naughty things I haven't been having, I just had my one cheat.'
