TOWIE Star Jordan Brook Says Unborn Son Saved His Life During Meningitis Crisis
Reality television personality and entrepreneur Jordan Brook has emotionally revealed that his unborn son provided the crucial strength he needed to fight for survival after being diagnosed with one of the most severe cases of viral meningitis, which brought him perilously close to death. The TOWIE star, who was celebrating the launch of his barber empire and the impending arrival of his first child with partner Sophie Kasaei, saw his world collapse when he contracted the life-threatening illness.
Misdiagnosis and Rapid Deterioration
Initially, medical professionals incorrectly diagnosed Jordan Brook with a migraine, but his condition rapidly worsened within hours. He was urgently rushed to hospital, where doctors confirmed he was suffering from viral meningitis combined with encephalitis, a dangerous inflammation of the brain. In a recent interview, Brook stated that trusting his own instincts was critical, admitting, "I'd be dead" if he had not pushed for further medical attention despite being told his symptoms were less severe.
The viruses caused his brain to swell at an alarmingly dangerous rate, leading to significant personality changes. Brook recounted moments in hospital where he did not even recognise himself, highlighting the terrifying psychological impact of the illness. His usually calm and cheerful demeanour was altered so drastically that he once shouted at a member of the public to lower their phone volume, an uncharacteristic outburst driven by the brain inflammation.
Unborn Son as a Lifeline
Throughout his 22-day hospital stay, Jordan Brook clung to the knowledge that his son was only ten weeks away from birth. He and Sophie Kasaei had endured a challenging two-year IVF journey, making the pregnancy a "miracle" for the couple. The thought of not being present for his child's birth became a powerful motivator for survival. Brook explained, "We have gone to hell and back trying to have a baby and suddenly there was a real possibility I was going to die before my son was born."
He credited his unborn child directly, saying, "He saved my life because becoming a father was the one thing I held onto and never forgot – even when the virus was actively changing who I was." This emotional connection provided him with the resilience to combat the virus as it attacked his brain and altered his personality.
Ongoing Recovery and Medical Monitoring
Although Jordan Brook has been discharged from hospital, his recovery remains far from complete. He experienced muscle deterioration and fatigue, initially being unable to walk. Additionally, doctors are monitoring potential permanent damage caused by scar tissue in his brain. He will undergo regular MRI and CT scans to assess any long-term effects, with medical supervision continuing to ensure his health stabilises.
Brook also praised his partner Sophie Kasaei for her unwavering support during his near-death experience, emphasising her role in his recovery. The couple's journey has been marked by both personal triumph and medical adversity, drawing attention to the severe risks associated with viral meningitis and encephalitis.
