Jonathan Ross became the first Traitor to be banished from the castle during Wednesday's episode of BBC's Celebrity Traitors, much to the delight of fans. The TV presenter was unmasked after receiving the most votes at the roundtable, ending his treacherous run in the Scottish Highlands.
The episode opened with Lucy Beaumont being murdered in a face-to-face killing by the Traitors, while Nick Mohammed and Kate Garraway were spared and made it to breakfast. After a height-based task, the group gathered for the banishment, with Ross ultimately exposed.
Upon his departure, Ross declared: 'I've got no idea what everyone's doing wrong. I cannot believe you've done it again. I cannot believe that I'm standing here for no good reason. I am now and I have been all through the game completely Faithful... to the Traitors!'
Fellow contestants had grown suspicious after Ross voted for Niko Omilana despite claiming an alliance, and his refusal to share details of a chess board encounter with Claudia Winkleman raised eyebrows. The 'big dog' theory, floated by Joe Marler regarding Ross and Stephen Fry, also contributed to his downfall.
Viewers took to social media to dissect Ross's mistakes. One wrote: 'Jonathan not sharing the details of being on the chess board with Claudia was defo his downfall, as well as the Ruth situation.' Another added: 'Jonathan mentioning the other Traitors potentially as Traitors in front of them was his downfall.'
