BBC Breakfast viewers have called a live moment outside Downing Street 'TV gold' after presenter Jon Kay was interrupted by an old friend while reporting on Monday, July 20.
Kay was stationed outside Number 10 with political editor Chris Mason, awaiting the announcement of Andy Burnham as Prime Minister following Sir Keir Starmer's resignation. Unaware they were live on camera, a person stepped into shot to shake Kay's hand.
Kay smoothly moved on, and later shared the incident on social media, posting: 'When an old mate spots you in Downing Street - and doesn't realise you're live on @bbcbreakfast.'

Burnham's first speech
In his first speech outside Downing Street, Burnham said: 'I have just come from Buckingham Palace, where I have accepted His Majesty the King’s invitation to form a government.' He added: 'I know people at home are fed up with politics. I hear you. And I want to be honest with you. We have not been good enough, and we need to be better. We will be.'
