Jon Bon Jovi abruptly ended his concert at New York's Madison Square Garden on Thursday, July 24, telling fans he was 'hurt' before leaving the stage and not returning.
The 64-year-old musician was performing the eighth night of Bon Jovi's nine-night Forever Tour residency in New York when he cut the show short after singing 'Livin' On A Prayer'.
A witness told Page Six that Bon Jovi announced to the audience: 'I'm sorry, I'm hurt, and you're not getting the best of me.' He instructed fans to keep their tickets, saying: 'Don't throw away your ticket stubs, I'm gonna figure something out, okay? Just hold onto it, we'll figure out how to reschedule.'
Possible sinus infection
Jerry Braden, host of the Jon Bon Jovi Discussions podcast, posted on X that the singer was struggling with a sinus infection, according to the Express. Braden wrote: 'Due to a sinus infection, Jon couldn't sing the end of Bed of Roses & let the audience sing. He said the internet trolls can have at it tomorrow, but thanked the supportive fans for having his back.' Braden added: 'Fans at the show (and online fans) are supporting you. We believe in you.'
Upcoming tour dates
After the Forever Tour concludes in New York on July 26, Bon Jovi will perform in Edinburgh, Scotland on August 28, followed by a three-night run at Wembley Stadium starting September 4.
Earlier this month, Bon Jovi expressed anticipation on Instagram ahead of the tour's opening night, his first in four years after surgery to repair a damaged vocal cord. He began the first show by singing the opening line of the Beatles' 'With a Little Help from My Friends', according to People. He later told the audience: 'I haven't heard the roar of a crowd in four years and I didn't know if I would remember what that was like.' He said he was 'grateful and humbled by this whole ordeal.' The band performed for over two hours with a 21-song set.
