Former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has seen his gig at London's OVO Arena Wembley cancelled with 'great regret'.
The 62-year-old was due to perform at the venue on October 24 in support of his first solo studio album in four years, The Age Of Everything, which will be released on October 2.
Statement from the venue
A statement from OVO Arena Wembley read: 'It is with great regret that we must inform you that the forthcoming Johnny Marr show at OVO Arena Wembley, London, scheduled for October 24 2026, is having to be rescheduled.'
'We understand that many of you will have made plans to attend, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this news may cause.'
'A new date has not yet been confirmed. However, we are working to provide an update as soon as possible, and you will be notified immediately once a rescheduled date is announced.'
Refunds and future updates
The venue said all tickets would automatically be refunded through the original point of purchase, with the refund being processed back to the original method of payment, with no further action required by ticket holders.
The arena's statement added: 'We would like to sincerely thank you for your understanding, and continued support and we hope to welcome you back to the show in the future.'
A reason for the postponement is yet to be announced.
Johnny Marr's career
With The Smiths, who were completed by singer Morrissey, bass player Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce, Marr was one of the pioneers of British indie rock in the 1980s.
The band released four critically acclaimed studio albums in The Smiths (1984), Meat Is Murder (1985), The Queen Is Dead (1986), and Strangeways, Here We Come (1987), before breaking up in 1987.
They achieved three UK top 10 singles, and were best known for songs such as This Charming Man, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, and How Soon Is Now?
Marr launched his solo career with 2013 album The Messenger, with all of his solo albums charting in the UK top 10.
The guitarist collaborated with pop star Billie Eilish and composer Hans Zimmer in 2020 on the James Bond theme song No Time To Die, and Marr has also spent time as a member of bands including The The, The Cribs and Modest Mouse.
