Johnny Depp is almost unrecognisable after his latest movie makeover was unveiled. The 61-year-old actor is set to star alongside Penelope Cruz in the upcoming thriller 'Day Drinker', directed by Marc Webb.
Production began this week, with new photos showing Depp sporting grey hair and a matching beard, dressed in a navy suit and blue shirt. In the images, he leans on a bar clutching a drink, staring menacingly off-camera.
According to reports, the film centres on a bartender played by Madelyn Cline, who befriends a mysterious guest (Depp) on a private yacht. They become entangled with a criminal (Cruz) and discover unexpected connections.
Director Marc Webb expressed excitement about the project, calling it 'a thrilling, ferocious story to tell'. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson praised the casting of Depp and Cruz, noting the film's 'wildly outrageous twists and turns'.
'Day Drinker' marks Depp's first role in a major studio film since his 2022 defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. He previously appeared in the French film 'Jeanne du Barry' and directed 'Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness'.
Depp and Cruz have previously worked together on 'Blow' (2001), 'Murder on the Orient Express' (2017), and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' (2011).
